The Brand New Heavies

The Brand New Heavies s’est formé en 1985 à Londres autour de Jan Kincaid (batterie, claviers), Simon Bartholomew (guitare) et Andrew Levy (basse, claviers). The Brand New Heavies A ses débuts, il s’agit d’une formation instrumentale qui se forge une bonne réputation dans le circuit des clubs londoniens. Rejoint par Jay Ella Ruth (chant), The Brand New Heavies sort un premier album éponyme en 1990. Jay Ella Ruth est remplacée ensuite par N’Dea Davenport. The Brand New Heavies Le groupe signe en 1992 Heavy Rhyme Experience, Vol. 1 sur lequel collaborent Main Source, Gang Starr, Grand Puba ou encore The Pharcyde. En 1994, paraît Brother Sister. N’Dea Davenport se lance alors dans une carrière solo. Elle est remplacée par Siedah Garrett. Suivent Shelter (1997) et la compilation Trunk Funk : the Best of the Brand New Heavies (1999).  En 2004, The Brand New Heavies signe All About the Funk avec Nicole Russo au chant. Deux ans plus tard, la formation revient avec N’Dea Davenport et l’album Get Used to It. The Brand New Heavies
